BUNKR, THE CENTRAL DISTRICT’S POP-UP VILLAGE, INVITES YOU TO AN INCREDIBLE ART COLLABORATION – TOILE BLANCHE NYC <3 MTL
Montréal, August 29, 2017 – In collaboration with Station 16 Gallery and NY curator Tim Neithercott, BUNKR Village invites you to a unique artistic gathering, Toile Blanche: NYC meets MTL, held on Friday, September 8 in the Central District of Ahuntsic-Cartierville. Highly regarded New York street artists will be at BUNKR to collaborate with Montreal street artists, creating mural panels to help neighboring service organizations, in celebration of this emerging district and its artistic endeavors.
Our primary goal is to contribute to the collective effort of revitalizing the Central District. Highly regarded New York street artists will be in attendance to support this initiative. They enthusiastically agreed to lend us a helping hand of support, having participated in revitalization movements within the boroughs of their own city.
Faithful to our theme of “Making Art and not War”, we embrace this opportunity to strengthen the historic love between Montreal and New York artists, and build bridges between our cultures, to bring us together and express our vision.
We believe that art is the catalyst which inspires and initiates change. Art stimulates creativity, innovation and commerce. In this vein, the artists will create murals on large panels to be auctioned on Thursday, September 28 with proceeds fueling neighborhood community organizations.
“We wanted to take this opportunity to give back to our community, which has been very supportive,” said Annika Panzini, President of Collective Experience / DCMTL and Founder of BUNKR. “BUNKR has always sought out collaborations between businesses, organizations and citizens of the Central District.”
The event is a way for us to interact with the people of the neighborhood who, with each day, will view the mural panels that will make an “impression” on them. Chabanel is known as an industrial district and its beauty is rarely demonstrated. The idea is to create a sense of pride in the neighborhood, and a place that inspires the community.
“The importance of cooperating and uniting the strengths of a community is fundamental,” says Carlo De Luca, President of Station 16 Gallery and Printshop. “To do this, we knew that creating and promoting artistic projects would be the solution. That’s why we wanted to contribute heavily to BUNKR Village and that’s what sets us apart from other initiatives similar to this.”
The New York street artists are presented by NY curator, Tim Neithercott, a new, proud inhabitant of Montreal. As a big fan of this city, he understood the importance of the neighborhood and is now actively engaged in sharing our vision. The Central District, a dynamic and artistic district.
“Montreal, the distinct energy of this vibrant city and the beauty of the city’s inhabitants, gifted me a strength and sense of empowerment I hold very dear to my heart. It is with gratitude that I bring forward these talented and amazing NYC street artists, Central District.”
This event is brought to you with the generous support of Omer Deserres, Réno-Dépot, Kika Marketing & Communications, moCore, and the Government of Quebec.
“In a study done by Business for the Arts, results show that more than half of Canadians favor businesses that invest in arts and culture.” – Business for the Arts. http://bit.ly/2vbW6bE
